The Recycling Route
To provide the complete recycling loop it is important that our customers are able to follow the processes concerning the recycling loop.
Stage 1.
A Quotation is prepared with an individual quotation number outlining the costs involved. Loddon currently operates 2 schemes with regards to quotations. Firstly there is our fixed Rate scheme customers pay a pre arranged annual fee or there is our flexible Scheme this allows us to prepare individual quotations on specific battery chemistries or for large quantities of batteries from one or more sites (i.e. site clearances).
Stage 2.
The order is placed and an Environment Agency Consignment is raised. Under current legislation the environment agency has to be informed of any waste movements 3 working days in advance.
Stage 3.
A collection date is fixed and the batteries are collected. At the collection point the customer signs and receives a copy of the environment consignment note. The batteries are then taken back to our warehouse where they are weighed and sorted in to their individual chemistries and then packed into leak proof containers.
Stage 4.
When a viable shipment has been gathered Loddon then raises a Transfrontier Movement of Waste Form (TFS) together with a financial guarantee for the shipment. The financial guarantee ensures that if there are any problems on route to the recycler or at the recycler before the shipment has been recycled that there are monies in place to pay for their retrieval or movement to an alternative recycler. The recycler then has 188 days to recycle the material from the date they receive it and subsequently issues a recycling certificate to complete the loop.
Citron is a Swiss based company with recycling facilities in France and whose services are utilised by Loddon Recycling. The pictures below give an insight into the processes undertaken by the recyclers.
