Recycling portable batteries instead of land filling reduces the potential for environmental problems in the future
The main work of the Oxyreducer is undertaken by a rotary hearth furnace...
Loddon offers a recycling solution for all types
of portable, industrial and automotive batteries
with links to the very best recycling in the UK
and Europe.
There is a variety of different battery chemistries and types, Loddon as an authorised Treatment operator and Exporter sort the batteries and consolidate the different chemistries in viable shipments before sending them off too approved recyclers. As recycling is pertinent to a specific type and chemistry all recycling processes are extremely intolerant of contamination from other battery chemistries or other waste product mixed in with the batteries. Loddon as one of the largest treatment facilities in the UK constantly samples the sorting quality of our staff to ensure purity of every shipment we send out.
The basic two types of battery recycling facilities used by loddon are hydrometallurgical and pyro metallurgical.
Hydrometallurgical: this is a chemical treatment which separates the different materials use in the batteries manufacture.
Pyro metallurgical: The batteries are treated in a furnace and thermally treated to capture the various materials used in the manufacture of the batteries materials are capture.
At this time there is limited recycling for portable batteries
in the UK and there is no approved recycling for alkaline batteries in the UK although a number of companies
are exploring the possibilities of opening a recycling plant
in the UK.
